Dave and Jon decided that they could share the building and flying of an aircraft and after careful consideration of their needs and wants from an aircraft, chose the Zenith Zodiac 601XL as a fast, comfortable touring aircraft and relatively straight-forward to build.

Dave and Jon are relatively experienced pilots, Dave having been in a number of aircraft syndicates and Jon owning a Piper Pacer and building his last aircraft, an X-Air Hanuman

It was decided early on that it would be a quick build kit and be powered by a Jabiru 3300. The Zodiac XL is being constructed in Jon's hangar at Atherton Airport, in sunny North Queensland. Building commenced in October, 2007.  Both Dave and Jon belong to the Atherton Recreational Aviators.
